..::Touring Gear

This is an always changing list of things I am going to bring on the Ride

Change items and dates changed I have highlight different color according to date change.

  1. Changed, added or taken away on May 26, 2004
  2. Changed, added or taken away on July 29, 2004
  3. Changed, and final gear list on September 30, 2004 These are my final thoughts and what I actually took for two days. I did learn a fair amount on those two days since we had a wide range of weather, including a thunderstorm in the dark, a cold day with on and off rain, and some warm, sunny weather.

Number of changes to list to date is 3 the reason you only see two colors I realized that if I would run out colors with all of the changes I will be making, and it really won't matter much to you in the end.

..::Riding Gear

  • Helmet - Giro Xen '03 Changing to a Bell® Alchera Helmet a road helmet, more suited and I got a deal on it.
  • Shoes - Specialized Rockhopper '03 very comfortable shoe on or off the bike.
  • Hydration Pack - Camelbak Rocket '03 Streamlined, with a baffled bladder. Deuter Race X Air I Hydration Pack large but has a much cooler design for my back to keep me cooler. This is a great pack, check out the website to learn more about it. I can say that the floating mesh back really does keep you cooler. Ok I did take this along but I ended up tying it the rack the second day, I did not like wearing this on my back all day. One day is fine, but more than that and it gets annoying.
    • bars, gu, and other food
    • halt dog spray, will also work on a human.
    • Leatherman supertool * took out knife leatheman has good knife with it.
  • Sunglass - Rudy Project Graal SX, three sets of lenses
  • Jerseys/Jacket - always coolmax or similiar product
    • 2 Fox short sleeve Changing will let you know soon
    • 1 Fox long sleeve May take out completely or replace with light more versatile jacket just purchased
    • Arm and Leg warmers since we will be riding the end of September.
    • May bring along Louis Garneau Morpho Jacket, Plenty warm and can take off the sleeves.
  • Shorts/Pants -
    • 1 Pearl Izumi Canyon Shorts, Nice
    • 1 Nema Crown Jewel Shorts, May take these out if not enough room I am taking these out to make room for a pair of riding pants to wear in cooler weather.
    • 1 Louis Garneau canyon baggy shorts, these have a removable liner so I can wear them off the bike in comfort, can wear liner under pants
  • Socks - defeet, coolmax, five pairs
  • Gloves -
  • Helmet liner
With the new clothing set up I can take some pretty cold weather, I may alter this depending on the forecast right before I leave. The changes I would make is take out the Jacket and Pants if weather is warm enough, or I would change the Louis Garneau for a Race Face Freeride jacket that is waterproof gortex if rainy weather is foreseen.
